The Impact of Rip Currents and Swell on Coastal Safety

Abstract
Rip currents and swell pose significant threats to beach safety. Rip currents are powerful, channeled currents that can rapidly pull swimmers into deeper water, while swell refers to long, rolling waves generated by distant storms. This article examines the formation mechanisms, identification methods, and safety considerations associated with both phenomena. By understanding these risks, beachgoers and coastal management authorities can implement proactive measures to prevent accidents and ensure a safer coastal experience.
